The 36th annual Kankakee River Fishing Derby kicks off on June 28 and ends July 7. However, beginning June 1st,  fishermen who are registered for the 2019 Derby can win a $50 prize by catching any fish that is tagged with a Fishing Derby tag from a previous year. 

Registration is only $20 for individuals or for the family. Registration forms will be available beginning Friday, May 31 at all area bait shops, Walmart stores, L&G Marine, and Reed's Rent All.

Over 90 tagged fish, still have big board and derby dollar day

New this year: a tommy gun with matching hand gun with identical serial numbers celebrating the gun’s 100 year sponsored by Bordertown Guns of Momence and on display at that location.

Also new: Nucor with $1000 cash fish and South Side Meats of Momence with $10/wk for 1 yr in merchandise

After only 3 days of Derby fishing, 4 tagged fish have already been caught. 3 are worth $500 each, and 1 is worth a $1000 prize! Congratulations to all!!
